Reviewed by The world today is full of countless diseases, viruses, and life-threatening things - it is up to one doctor to try and cure as many as possible. Doctor Black Jack is an unlicensed doctor who charges obscence amounts of money to tend to patients - naturally enough, most of the people he treats are rich. Black Jack was encouraged to become a doctor as a kid, as he was involved in an accident - a doctor (called Doctor Honma) went into surgery to tend to Black Jack, and came out successful. A side effect from this was to turn half of Black Jack's skin pale, and half of his hair white. This inspired him to become a doctor - and fix someone as he was fixed - and he becomes world famous. Most people think he is a bloodsucking leech, but he is kind, intelligent, and the world's best doctor -- he just happens to have countless enemies! The manga -- just like the animated series -- is fantastic! It was drawn a while back, so the drawings aren't what most anime fans are used to... It is drawn like Astro Boy but it is still worth far more than the price you pay for the book. Interested in writing for MangaLife?
